RCN Sponsors New York Swim!

During the summer of 2009, I was fortunate enough to intern at RCN New York City. As an Intern at this particular company, my job was to aid in event planning for major events such as the New York Swim and the New York city Triathlon. RCN utilizes such events in order to promote their image as a cheap alternative to Verizon and other cable company. At the New York Swim, my job was to pass out t-shirts, hose off swimmers, and pass out bags with the RCN logo. The company had an elborate tent with key information about their prices and rates.

This concept highly relates to that of Jeep. The overall goal of the Jeep enterprise is to sell their products utilizes various marketing schemes. For example by having an ad on facebook, customers are more likely to buy the product. This relates to that of the RCN brand as a whole. By having a tent at a major event, this alone might entice customers to want to set up an account with RCN. This is an effective tool of getting to product out to the public

  1. this is a great idea in that the company wants to get out in the field and meet their customers it is great that they are doing that by going out and handing out free bags with the company logo to the competitors of the New York City triathalon

  2. I think the concepts that RCN New York have for advertising are really good. Not only were fans able to watch their favorite swimmers they were also given handouts and information about a company they may have or may not have heard

  3. The New York City Triathlon gets a huge turn out and a lot of press. The RCN Cpmpany was smart to hand out towels to the athletes and get their name out there at a big event such as the Triathlon in NYC. RCN is a small company with affordable priced phones. Being present at the NYC Triathlon was valuable to them because they reached out to a wide audience that could be interested in their company.

  4. This is a good opportunity for RCN to recruit new members to their company and by giving away products with their logos it leaves a reminder to all of the potential customers their.
