Amazon.com Team A
Amazon.com employs many direct marketing strategys. For instance when you open the website and have signed in, there is a section named "Recommended for you Today" and it'll say either in Books, Games, Computers, etc. And under that they have groups of items you have previously looked at. For me it was Entertainment, Netbooks, TV Video, and watches. They had two new categories also. Your recent search history is at the bottom of the homepage. When you search an item there is a section undernearth labeled "Customers Who Bought This Item Also Bought." They have many other things on the website with your name next to it. On the top it says "Hello Robert" and underneath says "Robert's Amazon.com". Next to Hello Robert it says "We have recommendations for you." And you can click it and look at "Today's Recommendations for you."

Its an online catalog; you can view the products, see the prices and order directly from the site as well. It gives people the opportunity to see inventory they would never see and they don't even have to leave the house to get it.
ReplyDeleteI think it's effective because it knows what I'm looking for generally. But it could not be effective because I could maybe be searching to buy something for someone else or I'm buying something I've never looked at before.
ReplyDeleteAmazon also includes for people who are just browsing and are not members categories on the homepage that entice the customer like "Most wished for in Movies and TV" or "Customers with Similar searches purchased.." These types of categories entice the customer to check out other items, which is the beauty of an online catalog/direct marketing online. They also have, like what we talked about yesterday, price pack deals. I saw for some candy product Amazon offered to put different candy packages together in 1 so it would be cheaper and you "get more for what you are paying."
ReplyDeleteIn addition Amazon allows for a direct response because people directly order the products online. Also, the search engine takes note of what a person has searched for and takes that search as a direct response as to popular customer's wants.
