As a fan of Conan I feel that since his show did well when he was on NBC, then it will probably be as popular on TBS which advertisers will pay money to advertise during Conan's show
I enjoyed watching Conan more than any other night talk show on television. But I don't think advertisers will pay 20% more when it's on TBS because NBC has higher ratings, especially during the evening hours. I think they'll pay the same price as they did when he was on NBC but I don't think they will pay more unless his show takes off in November and has high ratings.
Conan needed more time for his Tonight Show to develop. 7 months is not long enough to establish a firm audience. It took Jay Leno over 3 years to overtake Letterman when he first started the Tonight Show. NBC screwed up that whole deal.
The controversy alone will attract an audience. Plus, Conan has had several months to prepare; he'll figure out a way to keep viewers coming back. He is Harvard graduate, after all. He's a smart dude.
